Question # 1.

Why does my Computer freeze up after a few hours of use?

Answer # 1.

The two major causes for 'Computer Freeze-ups' are as follows:  1.  An aging Power Supply is putting out a lower than nominal voltage.  2.  An aging Fan's Bearings have frozen up.  Either the Fan in the Power Supply, the Chassis Fan, or the Fan over the 'CPU Chip' has stopped rotation.

Resolution # 1.

Replace bad parts.  If the Fan in the Power Supply has stopped, replacing the Power Supply will replace two bad parts.  The Chassis Fan is cheap and should be replaced if sluggish.  If the CPU Fan is found to be Sluggish or Stopped, replace it.  A sad reality is that the CPU Chip may be bad because of excessive heat over time.  If problem persists after replacement of Fan or Fans, you may have costly repairs due to excessive heat over time.
